Sandy Bay, Hobart
This artwork is an original oil painting depicting a summer afternoon on the Derwent River in Sandy Bay, Tasmania. I travelled there for a summer family vacation and during that time there had been bush fires through the south east of Tassie. A haze of smoke settled over Hobart which created a beautiful pink filter across the Sandy Bay Rivulet, softening the horizon and reflecting a magenta skyline across the Derwent.
Painted with a palette knife with loose and scribbly marks in deep and dusty pinks, golden yellows and deep blue this little artwork is a gem.
