Bauhinia

I have an enormous, well established Bauhinia tree on the nature strip directly in front of my house. It spills into our yard and I believe they were planted in the 1950s. So my neighbour once told me. Our street is lined with them in alternating pink and white varieties. When they are all in bloom it looks spectacular especially against a backdrop of pale blue mountains in the distance.

I have drawn and photographed our tree many, many times over the 15 years we've lived here. I love the magenta pinks against the deep green foliage. The buds are stunning too.

This beautiful tree never fails to disappoint and puts on a spectacular display through the warmer months.
